About Game Plan
SkillsHub's recently completed Game Plan project successfully promoted training and skills development in Victoria’s interactive media and games industry. The project was formed in response to a high demand in the creative industries for digital media skills and increasing competition for skilled workers. With funding from Skills Victoria, Game Plan’s project partners SkillsHub and RMIT University worked with employers to invigorate skills development in specialised industry roles, including 2D and 3D Animators, Games Designers, Games Artists, Web and Online Developers, Production Assistants and Project Managers. The project focused on up-skilling existing employees and placing high-level trainees into industry roles.
As a result of the SkillsHub and RMIT team’s efforts, the following milestones were achieved through Game Plan:
- Campaign to market advanced training opportunities in Victoria’s interactive media and games industry
- Partnership with RMIT for training at the diploma and advanced diploma levels
- Presentations and skills development promotion to over 300 Victorian employers in the games, interactive media, advertising, architecture and design industries
- Development of a Game Plan Candidates Guide and Application Forms
- 18 placements into training into the Diploma of Interactive Digital Media
- 2 placement into training into the Advanced Diploma of Screen + Media
- 3 traineeship placements in industry roles
- Expressions of interest from existing industry professionals to undertake Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL)
With the completion of the Game Plan project, SkillsHub continues to promote skills development in the interactive media and games industry. For more information on training opportunities please contact SkillsHub at 03.9614.5566.
